This new performance is undoubtedly the beginning of something big. When you put yourself in your starting blocks, was this the goal you came for?
Exactly, this performance marks something very big. This is the third time I've lined up to race this season, knowing that it wasn't really the goal for this race. My real goal was to beat my personal best. But I had Fabrisio's French record in mind. I told myself beat your own record, the one you did two weeks ago, and then we'll see about the rest.
At the EYOF, a few weeks before I left, I was just visualizing my race by seeing myself winning. I was imagining race patterns that could unfold. And in the end, I did exactly the same thing for this record. I visualized this performance, telling myself that it was possible, and besides, I was not far from achieving it. And everything I had in mind went as planned. Except for one detail; at the end of my race, I told myself that I would not look at the time, but that I would observe the reaction of people. Finally, with the pressure, I preferred to watch the time, and I was surprised.
The former performance was held by your teammate Fabrisio Saïdy. Tu l’as dit, « le record reste à la maison ». Est-ce que l’énergie qui règne au sein de ta team en est pour quelque chose dans cette progression ?
The energy comes partly from this group, from our friendship between Fabrisio and me, from the sharing of experience, from the feelings... And especially from the surpassing of oneself at each training. One day it can be Fabrisio, another day Jacques, or Theo... All this atmosphere allowed me to make this record.
A few weeks ago, I was in Reunion Island, which allowed me to prepare myself physically and mentally. I took some time for myself to come back strong for the beginning of this season.
What are your plans for this winter season? Any competitions planned?
In two weeks I have the French Espoirs championships in Lyon, from February 12 to 13. I also have the French Elite Championships from February 27 to 28, and normally, at the end of the season, I start my transition for the summer... Unless I achieve the minimums for the World Championships in Belgrade... But for now, I stay on this plan which consists in focusing on the national championships.
Dreams are big. We keep believing in them because in reality, anything is possible. Share with us some music that keeps you focused on your ultimate goal.
I listen to a lot of music or speeches that have motivational themes, like Still Shadey D.W, Denzel Washington, E.T, but I would say the music I listen to the most is "Flash-Summit".
