This season, the Belgian light is on Enguerran BOSSICARD

DIARY OF AN ATHLETE

Written by Trackandmemes, March 13, 2022

The whole of Belgium watched your progress until you won the title at the Belgian U23 Championship. If you had to thank only two people, which ones would come to mind?

To choose only two people would be too hard... If I could progress like this, it is thanks to a whole series of people who pushed me to surpass myself in their own way. I think especially of my training group, but also of my family, my friends from other clubs, some of whom I was able to run against...

If I had to choose two people, I would start with Carole Bam a.k.a. Coach K. It's mainly thanks to her training, her confidence, and all her qualities on and off the track that I was able to improve. The second person would be Bilal Bazouze, my best friend, a.k.a. the manager. He has been there since my very beginning in athletics and has always been behind me.

Are you aware that you have become a model of perseverance for your peers? Especially for those around you who are aligned with your disciplines?

So not really ahahah, but if so that's cool! If I can convey that kind of thing, that's great. If you want to, you can. You just have to give yourself the means.

Bolt a dit «  il y a de meilleurs démarreurs que moi, mais je suis un excellent finisseur » t’en pense quoi ?

I don't pretend to compare myself to Bolt, or my start for that matter 🤣. But yeah, I don't have the best start anyway. Rather, it's once I straighten up that I assert myself the best. We'll work on that in training to change the first 30 meters which aren't great.

How did you manage to combine sports and studies this year, given your arrival in a group where training was more consistent?

It's not easy at all. I have a pretty busy schedule in my physical therapy studies. I try to manage as best I can, but it obviously takes a lot of time. There is no room for other hobbies and activities.

That makes for some pretty big and tiring days. I work on my classes on the weekends, and during the week when I have time.

What are your goals for the outdoor season?

I haven't thought about that yet. In any case, it's going to be to tear it up and do good times in the 100m and 200m.

Considering my indoor season, it's promising.
